About

Halcyon Rambling Club is long established, having an unbroken history dating back to 1927 and, although the Club is based in Sheffield, our membership comes from as far afield as Essex. We regularly walk in the Peak District, which is the most popular National Park in the UK, covering areas of Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire and South Yorkshire.
Our varied programme offers a full-day walk every Sunday, Wednesday morning rambles (followed by an optional pub lunch) every couple of weeks throughout the year and, from April/May to late August, there are short walks on Friday evenings, usually ending at a convenient local hostelry. Weekends away (most extended to a full week) are held in Spring and Autumn to such places as the Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland, North Wales etc.
Halcyon’s social calendar includes a summer garden party or BBQ, a ‘big day out’ and also a ‘summer social’. The regular autumn and winter events are an ‘end of year get-together’, a ‘mince pie ramble’ and finally our New Year’s lunch. Club members also organise other events on an ad hoc basis.
There are no UK government COVID 19 restrictions. However, COVID has not gone away and we recommend that everyone is fully vaccinated – our aim is to keep everybody as safe as possible.
